Do you need a tool for running multiple coding agents in parallel? The gap between these tools and coding agents is shrinking. I use Cursor - it lets you run multiple agents in parallel. Codex and Claude are similar. So if you are using a single coding agents, parallel sessions are not a limitation of any. These tools for parallel agents are definitely needed if you use different coding agent in each session. But I do not think it is a common scenario. There are limitations on the number of parallel agents in each of the coding agents, so parallel agents tools might overcome this limitations. However, the major coding agents offer cloud agents - where you run your agents in the cloud, offloading your laptop. So you need to examine if parallel agents tools have a cloud capability. Now, a tricky point about worktrees - for isolating the agents. These might be slow in some situations, and are complicated to understand. So you might want to consider these parallel agents tools for this reason. Overall, as coding agents advance, such parallel agents tools might not be necessary. To put in context my setup - Cursor for Laravel PHP, building AI applications with Laravel AI and Laravel MCP.

How does AI billing work? via assistant, via the frontier model subscription, via the frontier model AI With recent changes to Claude billing, the mode of billing became important. Possibly, this will be followed by other frontier models. My choice from last year is PHPStorm with Codex CLI. PHPStorm is an IDE itself. But now I'm reconsidering alternatives: 1. Cursor 2. Codex from OpenAI with Zed as IDE. 3. Zed with Codex credentials 4. Polyscope from BeyondCode. Not an IDE. Tailored for Laravel. The billing matter complicated their usage of Claude What is your choice?

Cursor free plan has an extremely limited usage quota. Asked: 1. Change the PHP version for an empty Laravel PHP project 2. Make it a Git repository - locally Done beautifully and wiped the quota. Codex and Claude's free plan is much more generous.
